Drury Lane Oakbrook was the scene of one of the most critically acclaimed shows of the season, and on Monday night, it was where the Jeff Awards honored that show. Ragtime walked away with seven Jeff Awards, including for best musical for a large theatre, best director for a musical and almost all the musical acting awards.

The Victory Gardens / Teatro Vista productions of The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity (which went on to become a Pulitzer finalist), received five awards, including best production of a play from a large theatre, director and new work for writer Kristoffer Diaz.

Drury Lane parlayed its 26 nominations into eight awards, seven for Ragtime and one for Tammy Mader's choreography of Thoroughly Modern Millie. VG walked away with six awards, with Francis Guinan, just back from Australia, winning the supporting actor nod for A Guide for the Perplexed in addition to the five Chad Deity statues.

Steppenwolf's The Brother/Sister Plays--also one of the most critically acclaimed of the season--received only one Jeff Award out of eight nominations, stealing the ensemble award from the best production winners.

Timeline's The Farnsworth Invention also took away a coveted award: production of a play for a midsize company. But it didn't win any others, despite 11 nominations.

Steppenwolf and Timeline weren't the only theatre with lots of nominations and few winning speeches. Goodman was nominated for 10 awards, and came out with one for Walt Spangler's sets in A True History of the Johnstown Flood. Even more astonishing, Marriott Theatre's 11 nominations resulted in zero awards. Court, which had 18 nominations, ended up with three, for three different shows: Mary Beth Fisher's solo performance in The Year of Magical Thinking; Alison Siple's costumes for The Mystery of Irma Vep and John Culbert's lights for The Illusion.

Other acting awards went to Natasha Lowe for her portrayal of Blanche in Writer's A Streetcar Named Desire, and Rob Lindley and Kate Fry for their principal roles in Writers' Oh Coward in the revue category.

Only six productions won more than one award at this year's Jeffs. In addition to Ragtime and Chad Deity, other multiple winners include Writers' Theatre's Oh Coward! (3 awards), American Blues' Tobacco Road (2 awards), Lookingglass and Silverguy Entertainment for Hephaestus: A Greek Mythology Circus Tale (2) and Rivendell's Mary's Wedding (2).
