The Hypocrites and Theo Ubique have captured Jeff Committee members this season with two old favorite musicals: Cats and Cabaret.

Theo Ubique 's Cats leads all shows with eight nominations, including Production of a Musical and Director, Ensemble, Choreography, Music Direction and Costumes. The production also got two artistic specialization nominations, for wig and makeup design. Ubique also received two nominations each for Some Enchanted Evening: The Songs of Rodgers and Hammerstein and Sweet and Hot: The Songs of Harold Arlen.

The Hypocrites also had three shows nominated. Cabaret garnered seven nominations, including Production of a Musical, Director, Choreography, Costumes and Supporting actress. There's also going to be an intra-show showdown in the Principal Actress category, with both Jessie Fisher and Lindsay Leopold receiving nominations.

The Hypocrites also received a Production nomination for Pirates of Penzance, which received four nominations. Their production of No Exit got three Jeff nods.

Other big shows this year are Lifeline Theatre 's Neverwhere, which garnered seven nominations for Adaptation, Original Incidental Music, Sound Design, Scenic Design, Costume Design and Puppet Design. Lifeline also received two nominations for Wuthering Heights.

The well-received production of Boojum! Nonsense, Truth and Lewis Carroll, produced at the DCA with Caffeine Theatre and Chicago Opera Vanguard, received six nominations. And Bohemian Theatre Ensemble 's production of Big River got five nominations.

In the non-musical categories, Redtwist gets the most nods, with three shows in the Production of a Play category: A Delicate Balance, Lobby Hero and Man from Nebraska. But altogether, Redtwist only received seven nominations. This may reflect an abundance of good plays in Chicago, as opposed to fewer musical productions.

The Non-Equity Jeff Awards will be Monday, June 6 at the Park West. Doors and cash bar open at 6pm, with a light buffet at 6:30. Tickets are $40 in advance, $45 at the door. A group rate of $35 is available for groups of 10 or more. Go to www.jeffawards.org for more info.
